Introducing the team

Alison
Alison Redmore, Director, is a widely respected science educator, with extensive experience as a science teacher, A level Chief Examiner and Principal Lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire, responsible for secondary ITE programmes. She is also a researcher and author of educational textbooks and a sought after conference speaker. Her varied background in schools and university has equipped her with the necessary tools to plan and produce quality science CPD for teachers, technicians and teaching assistants across the region. As the Director of the Science Learning Centre East of England, Alison aims to help course participants translate cutting-edge developments into practical delivery that works in the classroom.
Jane
Jane Turner, Deputy Director, has eighteen years’ experience in primary education as a teacher, researcher and author. She has developed award winning curriculum projects in science, literacy and technology. Formerly Primary Development Manager at SETPOINT Hertfordshire, Jane has designed and led science workshops in schools across the region and now appears regularly on Teachers’ TV as a primary science consultant. Among other duties as Deputy Director at the Science Learning Centre East of England she is responsible for developing an innovative programme for primary science.
James
James de Winter, Learning & Technology Manager, has an extensive background in ICT. He also lectures in science education at Cambridge University and has written several textbooks and designed a range of interactive materials. His experience as a physics teacher has given him the knowledge and understanding to effectively design and deliver courses for the Centre and other organisations.
Helen
Helen Roberts, Post 16 lead for science in the Eastern Region, is responsible for arranging quality Continuing Professional Development for those involved in post-16 Science Education in our region. She also coordinates a practitioner network, building on the success of our active network of Subject Learning Coaches who meet regularly to share resources and ideas.
Carolyn McGinty, Senior Administrator and Centre Manager, deals with course management and finance as well as conference bookings and marketing related issues. Ivy
Ivy Brooks, Administrator, will guide you through the course booking process and can be contacted for any queries regarding the day-to-day administration of courses. She can be contacted on 01992 517625 or slc2.EastEngland@herts.ac.uk
  Gae Webb, Senior Science Technician, is the Resources Manager. She is responsible for looking after the technical equipment including Science, Audio Visual and ICT. Gae also manages the loans of the Portable Planetarium. She can be contacted on 01992 517620 or EastEngland@herts.ac.uk.
Kait
Kaitlynn Shaw, Senior Science Technician, is the person to contact if you wish to join our very successful Kit Club or borrow Kits. She also prepares the technical resources required by users of the centre and can assist with any technical support and equipment issues.
